How To Grow Your Christian Walk In Christ By

This post purpose is to help Christians better understand the meaning and purpose of being a Christian who believes that Christ is Lord. Giving you clear understanding how you can grow in your Christian walk in Christ.

However, before I go into the reasons why here are the many classes of Christians today. Some of the groups you might be able to identify as yourself πŸ™‚

  1. I Accept the Lord but do not get me involved in anything
  2. I Accept the Lord but I only want blessings no suffering
  3. I Accept the Lord because I need help
  4. I Accept the Lord and Love Jesus to serve Him
  5. I Accept the Lord serving Him with all my heart and soul and mind
  6. I Accept the Lord because my parents said so it’s good
  7. I Accept the Lord because I was born in a Christian family
  8. I Accept the Lord but now I backslid

The good news regardless what kind of level of commitment you are with Christ, God still loves you and wants to use YOU in your life as you have accepted the Lord, and that’s a very important milestone in your life because you are saved!

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. – Romans 10:9 ( NIV )

You Are Saved

So now that you are saved, do not have doubts for this is God’s promise as stated above. Not only are you saved for eternal life, you are very important to God as well. Just how important? The good news you are specially chosen by God

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. – 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

Notice that Peter mention you are royal priesthood (kings) πŸ™‚ That’s how special and important you are to God πŸ™‚

My Past Christian Life

Being a Christian myself for about nine years I know for a fact lots of Christians live their faith by name only and not by their actions and lifestyle that is because we are so distracted by the demands and needs of this world to live. These were my personal thoughts when I first became a Christian

  • God I need help in my work and study
  • God I need blessings for my family
  • God I need healing for myself and family
  • God I need a car or house

All these sound all too familiar? Well, I like to call this a “One Way” Christian, meaning you only want the blessings but do not want Christ in your life. However do not get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with asking for all these needs above for it’s by God’s grace He freely blessed us because He loves us that much.

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! – Matthew 7:11 (NIV)

So do not feel guilty or condemn that you are doing what I mention above. My purpose of this article is to encourage you to look at the other side of the equation of this bigger picture and help you understand it is important to grow in your walk with Christ.

It took me years to realise this, but I got to admit if I looked back what I prayed about I was kind of a VERY selfish Christian don’t you think so? However because of God’s grace, He did not condemn me, in fact, He freely continues to reach out to me in many areas of life despite the fact that I know this was not the way to show one’s love to a great powerful Lord in our life πŸ™‚

What Early Christians Pray About

You might even have that impression that the earlier disciples of Christ might think or behave the same but let me share with you some interesting insights what the Early Christians in the earlier church pray about below:

And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, Β while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. – Acts 4:29-31

They were praying for boldness and not even any needs of their own. If you are struggling to find that courage to share about Jesus with others online PRAY to be filled with the Holy Spirit for boldness that’s where I draw my boldness from πŸ™‚

You also might need to understand why these Christians prayed for boldness that is because in Jesus’s last command before He lifted up to Heaven He said this

Β But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” – Acts 1:8

Note the keyword “witnesses” , that’s one why the early Christians were so eager to speak the Good News to others because simply put they understood the importance of showing the Love of God in their lifes and wanted to express their Love for God by putting into action a command that Christ has placed on ALL Christians πŸ™‚

I hope by now you understand why it is important to understand what are the core duties of living a life as a Christian. It is not only always about what you want or what you praying for but I do pray after you have read this article you will come to realise if you really want to mature yourself as a believer in Christ it time for you to witness to others πŸ™‚

Simple Things You Can Do To Witness

  1. Share your testimonial on Facebook πŸ™‚
  2. Share gospel messages on Facebook
  3. Make effect to show acts of loveΒ to others through Christ
