Evangelism is not a gift, it’s a commission given by God. Basically, if you are Christian today, YOU DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE. You are COMMISSIONED to do it!
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. These [d]signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” – Mark 16 :15-18
Do you notice, that Jesus did not say just go church listen and pray and DO NOTHING. Jesus said to all Christians today to preach the gospel to all creation, have you even bothered to try? Do you even try to believe you can preach? Do you see signs when you pray and share Jesus to others? If you have done any of this Praise Jesus! But if you have not, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
On top of being commission by God to preach, do you know you are COMMANDED to love God and your neighbor?
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:36-39.
If you love God, you would not only read His word but also apply them in action and SHARE the good news with everyone around you and know what evangelism is all about. But how many reall know today? Evangelism is simply telling others what God has done for us (Isa 12:4).
Jesus gave us the apostles, the prophets, the evangelist, the pastors and teachers (Eph 4:11). This is also known as the five-fold ministry of the church to equip the Christians for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.
Strangely enough, Christians today almost all of them do not belong in any ministry just mention above. And every role is called and commanded to share the good news not just the evangelist.
There are five ministries mention above, ask yourself if you really cared about God, are you even in any of the ministry mention above? If you are PRAISE JESUS , if you are currently not you better be concern about it and pray about it and ask God for direction.
The apostles, prophets and pastors all preach the word of God to the church to build up and encourage the body of Christ. The teachers are the one that teach the word of God to help build up the foundation understanding of what God has done. Evangelists are the ones that goes out there into the world sharing boldly the good news of what God has done for us.
Sadly not many bothered to want to share what God has done, and even worst is very few dares to step out to be an evangelist for Jesus Christ.
The moment, you ask most Christian to share about what God has done. They are either shy, clueless or have no idea what to say and that is VERY SAD.
And the reason why most Christians do not know how to share what God has done, the honest truth is THEY DO NOT CARE! Yes you read it right, YOU DO NOT CARE what God has done. If YOU DO PRAISE GOD!
Christians Do Not Care To Evangelize
Being a Christian for many years, I can safely and confidently tell you most of Christians DO NOT CARE about what God has done. The reason I say this is because if they did care they would have spend time reading the Bible and praying and seeking God to serve Him.
Instead what we are so busy doing all the time is constantly praying and going to church just to receive blessings and solve our problems and refuse to grow in our relationship with God.
Serving God is not about coming to church every Sunday, singing some songs, hearing sermon, give tithes then go home! If you think that is serving God, you have totally not understand the reason why you go church at the first place.
The only reason why you want to go to church is to build up your spiritual body and knowledge of God. With that, you need to apply them in real life and share the good news or pray for others in the name of Jesus!
Basically, if you believe in Jesus, you come to church to be equip with knowledge so that you can learn to love others and NOT YOURSELF ONLY! You are commanded to share the good news to everyone who is around you or when God gives you direction to share to someone.
How To Evangelize To Others?
How do you tell others about what God has done? The easiest way to do it is to share how you believe in Jesus. How you experience Jesus. Who is Jesus to you.
The second better way, read the bible for yourself and understand what Jesus has done for us, why He needs to die on the cross, what was He dying for? Learn how to lead others to the sinner’s prayer to receive Jesus. Learn how to pray for others and show people how to pray for others.
How The Disciples Evangelize?
“those who had been scattered went about [b]preaching the word. Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began proclaiming Christ to them. The crowds with one accord were giving attention to what was said by Philip, as they heard and saw the signs which he was performing. For in the case of many who had unclean spirits, they were coming out of them shouting with a loud voice; and many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed. So there was much rejoicing in that city.” – Acts 8:5-8
Notice firstly Philip who is a disciple of Jesus, first proclaim Jesus to them. Telling them what Jesus has done for them on the cross and to save us from our sin and pointing them to Jesus as Lord and savior.
Notice what happened when Philip was talking, they saw signs from Philip. What kind of sign happen?
In this case, many unclean spirits start to come out and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed! Praise Jesus.
What we as Christian always miss out, is signs will follow as we share the good news to people and that is something you need to seek God to show as you share Jesus today too.
