Does Holy Communion Bring Healing?

What is Holy Communion and Where The Idea Came From?

It was during the last supper that Jesus had with his disciples and the approaching the Passover. He had one last meal with them before he was sent to be crucified on the cross that Jesus asked them to do this

“When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”

After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. – Luke 22:14-20

Contradiction to many believe that some Christians believe there is power in doing the Holy Communion for healing, but nowhere in the Bible was mentioned that by doing so you will receive healing.

The biblical meaning of the Holy Communion was always been and should always be remembered about the covenant of Jesus’ blood and body for us by dying on the cross for us as a ransom for our sin.

So, therefore, it should be used as a symbolic act as Christians and not to proclaim healing from Holy Communion.

Healing Takes Place From The Proclaiming of The Name of Jesus

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name (Jesus) they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” – Mark 16-17-18

You do not need to do Holy Communion to receive healing from Jesus. It was never the elements of them that enables you to receive healing from Jesus.

Signs of healing come from the faith you have in Jesus and from people who lay hands on you to pray to receive healing from the name of Jesus.

The Danger of Holy Communion Healing

Some Christians unfortunately due to traditions, use Holy Communion as part of the proclamation of healing from Jesus.

Can Jesus still heal by using Holy Communion, yes, it is possible. But it was not the elements of the bread and water that heal you, but it is solely by the trust and faith you have in Jesus’ name that heals you.

The danger of this practice, especially for those who do not read the Bible. They would presume this would be a ritual that Christians need to do in order to receive healing.

The big issue with this is we put more focus on the elements of the bread and water as the healing way and means to receive healing than on the name of Jesus Christ.

There are unfortunately even Christians who are so extreme as to want to do Holy Communion daily just to receive healing from Jesus Christ but they forgot the real meaning behind Holy Communion is about remembering the covenant of Jesus’ sacrifice of his blood and body on the cross for our sins so that we can be forgiven through Him.

If you have not realized, the Holy Communion is about remembering what Jesus has done for us and it’s not meant to get something we want from Jesus. Often times unfortunately we did the opposite of it.
