On this day we went to Aspendos theatre to have a better understanding of the culture of the people during the roman’s and Paul’s time.
The seats are made from marble and it has a seating area of 15,000. The population of a city is normally 10 times to the size of the theatre so means during Paul’s time there were 150,000 in this city.
It was at this place, the pastor taught us that Paul was a man of two cultures and he understands very well how the Jews think and how the Roman’s thinks as well as he was also a Roman citizen himself.
Taken from another angle, pretty nice place to be :)
One of the holding places or room at the place, it just reminds me of the movie Gladiators where they were put there to waiting to come out to fight :)
View from the bottom up :)
How it looks like from the outside :)
After the theatre, we went to Perga ( another great roman city ). What you see above is the Perga stadium which is pretty big. This it the place where games and fights were done to thank and worship the Roman Gods during that time.
The map of Perge which we managed to walk the entire place. It was a big place to walk and see :P By the way Paul did pass by Perge during his journey here as well :)
The entrance gate of Perga :)
It was amazing these structures still are around and solid to walk on :)
What you see above used to be shops where the Roman people shop in the city of Perga.
What you see above is actually a two roads and in the middle is for water to flow through the city. Paul has walked through this road as well during his journey too :)
Another angle of the road in Perga :) Feel great when you walk the same path that St Paul have walked before :)
So what’s so interesting about this road? Well firstly it is faced north to south the road and it’s made in marble :P
The city was big and it was a rich city filled with many Gods created by the Romans. So why did Paul go through Perga?
One possible reason was because, Paul just followed the roads that was build by the Romans and the roads are linked to each major cities as he walks through the roads and it would be easier for him for his journey.
During our time at Perga, the pastor taught us that during the roman times the culture of a city is controlled by three things.
1. Eduction
2. Sports
3. Religion
And that is why in the city of Perga, you do actually see all these things. So can you imagine how would Paul preach the good news in such a culture dominated by Roman’s culture and Gods?
After Perga, we headed to a habour near by for lunch. Above is a photo of their trains :)
Had one of the most romantic lunch by the Antalya habour.
My lunch, the fish was really big!
And of course there is bread! Lots of BREAD!
A nice view of the habour
The Antalya habour, this is the location where St Paul was when you set sail for his 1st journey :)
Some nice flowers I found at the restaurant during my lunch.
A view of the beach with it’s clear water :)
The Habrian’s gate, you actually get to see the actual road how it looks during those times :)
After lunch we headed to the Talvac archaeological museum and ended that day. For more photos from Day 4 you can click here

Day 3 @ Cappadocia

In the early morning we set off to Goreme , this place is made from ashes from the volcano that form up these structures and now it become buildings kind of cool.
Another photos of the ashes from the entrance of the Goreme Open Museum which is the location of the hiding place for the early Christians who came here to hide from the persecutions of Christians during that time.
A photo of the kitchen inside the ashes structure where they cook.
A photo of the dining area where early Christians during that time would have eaten here and there’s actually a hidden secret passage to escape just behind when they are been attacked :(
A nice over of Goreme, oh yes by the way there are even hotels made from these structures as well pretty cool :)
Turkish man making Turkish ice cream it was yummy!
That’s the ice cream, it’s not a lot but it’s sticky and yummy cost about US$2 :)
Another beautiful view of Goreme.
After Goreme, we went to the Derinkuyu Underground Town. What you see above is the map of the town UNDERGROUND it’s HUGE and it’s 8 levels deep! This was also another location where early Christians had to suffer for their faith as they have to hide in this underground town from persecution.
A view from inside the tunnels of the town
It’s was really small and tight to go down the tunnels to 8 levels down and you can see from the image above how low it is. I am 1.8m tall and I had to kneel down most of the time to walk.
This is a photo of me at the deepest and smallest room there is in the town at basement 8 in a small room. It was very cold in here I think it was about 10 degrees and our pastor had a lesson for us in that small room.
In the room the pastor go through a lesson on having faith in God using the verses from Hebrew 11:37.
It was a very touching lessons, especially when you experience being the small room totally dark and cold where the early Christians for hours or maybe days just to prevent persecution.
For believes and faith, they suffer all these for us future Christians today for without them and their believes they would not be able to pass down the religion to generations after them.
For being a Christian, it’s all about the community and when one member suffers all members suffer together. When our group was in their small room, we even worship in it and sing some songs and it’s one of the most memorable experience I will ever have there and I even cried as I can sense how much pain the early Christians have to ensure during that time.
On the way out, we saw this which is a dining area for the people in the underground town.
A picture of a baptized pool near the dining area you can see the pipe in the picture as well it’s pretty deep!
That’s was the end of Day 3 and the image above it’s just some tree I found at a farm where we stop by for toilet break on the way to hotel :)
Another view from the same location of that tree of the mountains , pretty nice :) For more photos from Day 3 journey you can click here

On Day 2 because most of the places we wanted to go yesterday was closed we were going to the places we wanted to go on Day 2 :)

A view of the streets just outside my hotel, it was about 18 degrees at that time real nice cool weather in the morning :)

A nice view of the bridge near my hotel the place you see above is one of the streets of shops you find at Antioch.
Some nice flowers I found at the bridge area behind my hotel :)
That building you see above is a bank and if you are wondering what are they queuing up for. Well they are queuing to get their salary from the bank :P
The 1st place we went on Day 2 was the museum which was walking distance from our hotel that was closed yesterday so we could not go yesterday.
A photo of a beautiful tomb in the museum.
Stuff found in the museum, I forgot what they are called but it’s nice and HUGE!
Crosses found in the early times of Christians uses :)
That’s money in the Romans times and that’s REAL GOLD, if only they know the value of the coins today is much more then what it was back then.. haha
That’s me beside the statue of Zeus ( God of Gods during the Roman times )
After the museum , we went to St Peter’s Grotto which is the photo above. This is the place where the early Apostles come and meet and discuss on things and pray too.
That me inside the cave, by the way the thing you see there was not there during Paul’s time it was added one later by the Romans :) The statue you see above is St Peter.
Image of St Peter in the cave :)
Image of the cave inside in the other direction
Image on top the cave, what’s so special about this image is you notice there is two different layers of stone on the image. On the left where you see the cave is the actual stopping point of the cave which during Paul’s time would be. The bricks you see on the right was added on later by the Romans :)
After St Peter Grotto, we took a 3 hour ride to Tarsus which is St Paul’s home town. The image above is at Tarsus at one of the nice rivers.
While I was taking pictures the people at Tarsus ask me to take photos with them. I think the mother on the right was trying to introduce their daughters to me but I hinted to them I am married.. haha
Another beautiful view of the water… it’s SO CLEAR!
Another view of the water really nice :)
After that the Tour Guide bought us to St Paul’s well. It is believe by the locals that the water in the well was holy but anyways that’s the believe :)
At St Paul’s well the pastor with us conducted his first lessons. He mention the following pointers.
During St Paul’s time the Rome were famous for road building and they build lots of roads during that time because they need to protect the city by moving military troops around.
What was interested was Paul was a Roman Citizen back then but what made him into one there is no evidence to support it but it’s believe his grandfather was a roman.
Before Paul was a christian, his name was Saul. So Saul and Paul is actually the same person but he was given the name Paul for what reason was not sure most likely I believe is to protect his identity from the Jews.
Before Paul was a believer, he was a libra in the Jewish community during that time. To become a libra was also not easy during that time as to be a great libra (teacher), one has to follow the libra for years to do what he does.
During Saul’s persecution of Christians as commanded by his community during that time, he felt he was doing the right thing as during the early times anyone who speaks of false gods has to be killed.
So in Saul’s point of view, he thought he was doing the right thing to kill the Christians during that time.
It was only during his journey to kill the Christians, an incident happen that Jesus spoke to Saul. Saul was blinded and about 3 days later a Christian believer came to his house and pray for him and he was able to see again that was the day Saul became Paul.
As mention in Act chapter 9 here
Paul was given a calling and that calling for Paul was to be passion for Christ and follow his command. What was that command? It was to make disciples :)
After that lesson we moved on to the next location :)
Flowers at St Paul’s well pretty nice :)
A photo of the early roads build by the early Romans. This would be the same road that Paul would have taken during his journey :)
Here’s another rare photo taken of a mountain that Paul has pass through these mountains you see here ( do not ask me the name I forgot too :P )
On the way back to the hotel I took this beautiful image of the sky it’s real nice :) And that’s the end for Day 2 :)

I was away for a real long time from 27th May to 8th June 2012 as I went to Turkey recently for a Biblical trip to understand more about what Paul did during this Journey as explain in the book of Acts in the bible.

You May Wonder As A Christian Why Turkey?

Well I have this same thought when I heard of the trip to Turkey as well as most people would associate Christian with Israel first which is the birth place of Jesus Christ.

Well in the olden times in the bible where it mention “Asia” is actually known as “Asia Minor” in today’s context which is Turkey :) After the resurrection of Christ lots of things had happen and Paul was a very interesting person who was the one who spread Christianity first to the world through his journey. It was also first through Paul that Gentiles ( which means non Jews that is us ) was first saved and called Christians during his journey too.

In my 14 days trip about Paul journey I will be sharing day by day activities I went through and share my teachings I learn as well through my journey with Paul :) For more details on this journey you can find it here.

Day 1 At Antioch

That’s my ride it’s not bad, it can seat about 16 of us in the van :)

That’s our lunch, they have lots of bread in Turkey but the soup was very nice
A view of the streets just outside the restaurant :)
This is a image of the outside the St Peter Grotto, unfortunately when we were there that day it was closed for maintenance and cleaning. By the way this is the place where the early Apostles came in hiding and do their discussions as to prevent them being found and be persecuted during those early days.
A beautiful view from St Peter Grotto
Because all the places we wanted to go were closed today, the tour guide bought us to a near by church. The image you see above is a mosque just beside a church :)
Beautiful images of Jesus on the right and Mary and baby Jesus on the left inside the Catholic Church.
A picture with the pastor at the church, I am holding a book he written and bought the book to raise funds for the church :)
A beautiful picture I taken from the roof of the church where you can see the church bell on the left and the mosque tower on the right :) It actually pretty common that you find mosques and churches right beside each other in Antioch.
A nice image of Mary I found at the Church :)
A nice view of the river in the heart of Antioch.
This is how the streets look like in Antioch.
After the church we went to a museum which I did not take much photos there then after we went to Seleuceia Pieria which is the photo above.
Some beautiful flowers I found along the way there at Seleuceia Pieria
Mountain view from Seleuceia Pieria
The photo you see above is an important site from the Bible as from Act 13: 1-10 . As mention in the bible, this is the location called Seleucia where Barnabas and Saul and Mark set sail from here. The journey started after 44AD at this spot :)
After this we headed off to the hotel :) For more photos from Day 1 you can click here to view them.

In the bible there are many verses that inspire us to be just like Jesus here are 10 great inspirational quotes from Jesus Christ.

1. About Treating Others

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. (Matthew 7:12)

2. Ask And You Shall Receive

“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:9-10)

3. Jesus The Son Of God

Then the high priest said to him, “I demand in the name of the living God—tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”
Jesus replied, “You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.” (Matthew 26:63-64)

4. God Is Love

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17)

5. Do Not Worry About The Future

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. (Matthew 6:34)

6. Love Your Enemies

“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? (Matthew 5:43-47 )

7. Warning To Rich People

“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Luke 18:25)”

8. About Faithfulness

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.’ II Corinthians 5:7

9. Judging Others

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37

10.Faithful Believers

“Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”John 20:29

Know the Lord Jesus Christ – His name is originally from the Hebrew word Yeshua. With just HIS name, we will all know that he is the Messiah of Israel. However, the many did not believe this. Jesus Christ is the word turned to flesh. He is the Son of God. Who was He truly? Was He just some ancient who told tales of being a King of the heavens? Was He the one who brought everything to life in the world?

Have you ever wondered what Jesus was like when he was still on Earth? What was it like to walk by His side? The bible told all about the extraordinary and glorifying things that he had done on earth. Now is the time to pick up the holy book. Let us read, know, and put in practice the righteous deeds that He had done.

As Christians, we all believe and experienced all the blessings and gifts that Jesus gave us despite our wrongdoings. Now is the time to let others know the never ending and always forgiving Love that God has for each and every one of us. As His children, we should be more aware of what He has done for us. We should understand more about the things that He did because knowing is just not enough.

All our lives, we tried to know and love God more. We even sometimes write and list down all of His Glory. But, have you ever thought, what about the things that I have done for Him? Is it enough to show Him of my faith? Am I making a connection with Jesus? Knowing, sharing, and loving Jesus is our first step to learn to accept and heed the forgiveness of the Lord from all the wrong things we’ve done. This is the way to stay with Him on judgment day. This is the way to be content and truly know what we should do and need in His incredible gift to us called life.

For God so loved the world, he even gave us words to live by. He gave us guidelines that we should follow, so that in the end, we shall rest in His arms.

1. A life full of wondrous things is given to us as a gift from God.

Here, is the verse that shows us the Love the Lord has for us:

“God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NIV).

Here, is the verse that shows the Blueprint that the Lord created for our lives:

[Christ speaking] “I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly” [that it might be full and meaningful] (John 10:10).

It has all been constructed for us by God himself. To heed His words is all we have to do. Why do we doubt Him at times? The reason is clearly due to:

2. We, as a person, have flawed and detached faith in the Lord. As a result, we have not yet received the fullness of the Blueprint of our lives created by God.

Here, is the verse that shows how man’s faith in God is flawed:

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

He shaped us in His spitting image. The reason He created us was to walk in his footsteps. People as we are. We want to put first our personal inclinations in life. We forget that this life we are living is a present from God. We have the Lord, Jesus, who only wants us to have the best in this world He created. In the end, we sway from His teachings and entertain what is wrong. As a result, we get our faith in the Lord flawed.

Here, is the verse that shows how man’s faith in God is detached:

“The wages of sin is death” [spiritual separation from God] (Romans 6:23).

In this figure, you can see how the Lord has all the glory. Then, we can see us as flawed beings. We are exceedingly detached from God because of this reason. The arrows show how we try hard to reach for God’s greatness every day of our lives. We all want to receive the fullness of His love and blueprint for us. In the end, as sinners, we fall back to where we are.

How are we ever going to patch things up with God?

3. God gave us His only son. Jesus Christ saved us from our own sins. The sacrifice He made for us has brought us the capability to receive the fullness of God’s love. Through this, God gave us the capability to receive the blueprint of our lives uniquely made for each one of us.

Jesus died on the cross for the sake of the world.

“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8).

Here, is the verse that shows that Jesus walked again on earth after His death:

“Christ died for our sins…He was buried…He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures…He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that, He appeared to more than 500…” (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).

God gave His Only Son so that we may be brought to His everlasting Love.

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me.”(John 14:6).

In this figure, you can see how the Lord still did the work to reach for us. That is how much He loves us. He even gave us Jesus, His only son. God let His only son died and suffer to save us from the sins we have committed and make us renewed Christians.

This is the reason why knowing the Lord is not still not enough to give back.

4. The first thing we need to do is accept God into our lives. This is the only path to understand Him fully and be a full Christian that is the heir to God’s Love.

Here, is the verse that shows the result in accepting God

“As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).

Accepting God while on earth means accepting Him through devotion

“By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9).

Devoting our lives to the Lord means we are renewing ourselves as unflawed beings that will serve Him

(Read John 3:1-8)

Even at this moment, God still does the work of calling us individually as His children to return to His arms

[Christ speaking] “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20).

In the process of accepting the Lord, we are giving our whole being to Him. This means we are forgetting our dark past and renewing our old ways to make up for our shortcomings. The true meaning of knowing God is not only agreeing with what the bible says but also with having the personal connection with the Lord Jesus Christ. We accept the Lord through loving Him with our might and then, we may be able to walk on His path as His Children who wants to be what He eagerly wants us to be.

Here, is a fact. There are three different types of Life as a Christian.

Natural Man

( one who has not received Christ)

“A natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised” (1 Corinthians 2:14).

Carnal Man

(One who has received Christ, but who lives in defeat because he is trying to live the Christian life in his own strength)

“And I brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to carnal men, as to babes in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, for you are still carnal. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshy, and are you not walking like mere men?” (1 Corinthians 3:1-3).

Spiritual Man

(One who is directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit)

“He who is spiritual appraises all things…We have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:15).
From the three, which type of life do you lead, as a Christian?

Renewing your whole being means changing for the Love of God. Which life do you think God wants us to have?

Here, is how we can be full Children of the Lord:

Now is the time to accept God through connecting with Him in our own personal way. How do we do this?

We communicate with God through whole-heartedly praying to Him

Even with a silent prayer, the Lord knows already what we truly feel inside. Here, is a short yet sincere prayer that we could always pray to the Lord to accept and feel Him more as True Christians:

“Jesus Christ, our savior, I need You in my life. Thank You for saving me from my own sins. Today, I am opening my life to You dear Lord. I am accepting You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for giving me the fullness of life. Be the king of my life my Lord. Mold me to be somebody that walks with in Your path. May Your will be done unto me.”

If today is the day that you want to accept the Lord, then this prayer would surely tell God how you want to be renewed as a Christian with full devotion to Him.

If you make that prayer and have further questions about the Lord Jesus drop us an email by clicking here or you can just comment below your questions :)

But 6 weeks into the pregnancy, my baby didn’t develop, there was no heartbeat. Basically I had a miscarriage. That was the most painful time of my life and perhaps was the most challenging. I cried a lot, though I didn’t blame myself nor God, I did wonder why it happened to ME!

Whenever I came across pregnant women during that period of time, I would wonder why others could have a successful pregnancy but not me! I used to think that miscarriage at the early stage of pregnancy wasn’t such a big deal. I mean, think about it, it’s only a few weeks! Surely there couldn’t be such a strong attachment and bond towards that baby right? WRONG! I was so wrong. In fact, the moment I knew I was expecting, feelings of love and attachment towards that child are formed and that baby was as real as any physical baby to a mother.

During that very difficult period of time, my husband and I held on to each other and cried and prayed. I am thankful that he was also with me emotionally. Although he wasn’t the one who was bearing the baby, he too felt the emotional anguish.

One song that I always sang that had been my emotional support was this:

For All You’ve Done lyrics (Don Moen)

For all You’ve done
For all You’re going to do
We give You thanks
And lift our praise to You

We give thanks
We give praise
For we know
That all things work together
For our good
We give thanks
We give praise
For by faith
We know Your grace
Will see us through

For all those things
That we don’t understand
We come by faith
And place them in Your hands

Even if we stumble
Even if we fall
You will not forsake us
You are King and Lord of all
Lord of all

The 3rd stanza really was what I was experiencing. I didn’t understand but I trust that it was for MY good. What good? I didn’t know.

3 months later, I conceived again. Miraculously, I didn’t feel a hint of fear…i JUST KNEW that it would be a successful pregnancy. I know of a lot of women who feel very very fearful and anxious about their pregnancy after a miscarriage. They would do all sorts of tests to make sure their babies are fine. I did nothing of that sort other than to just do regular ultra-sound.

There was this divine peace and assurance, knowing that my child is safe in his hands. Now this child is already 6 years old! How time flies! I am very happy to share with you, I believe I now know the reason why that miscarriage happened.

When I was younger, I HATED children. I found them very very annoying and irritating. I told myself I didn’t want kids until a few years into marriage. When I got pregnant, I took it for granted that I would have a successful pregnancy, as most women do and I didn’t think I would ever miscarry. So after it happened, it dawned on me that truly every life is a gift from God. We cannot take for granted that every pregnancy will result in a healthy child. Anything can happened within those 9 months. I grew to see EVERY CHILD as a miracle of life and appreciated children a WHOLE LOT more. It couldn’t have happened if I had not miscarried.

Yes it was an unfortunate event in my life, but through it, I’ve learnt something very valuable and treasure my children a lot more. Once in a while, my husband and I would remember our 1st child…we know s/he is safe in the hands of our Father. I would want to see him/her in heaven when we get there. S/he will always be in our hearts. I’ve never forgotten about that baby till this very day.

“Jesus is a living god that if you have trust in him,you will be blessed by him.. He had touched the lifes of my family members and loved ones.. He had changed my my entire life and I will always follow with all my heart.. Jesus had saved my father’s nose cancer which is on the fourth stage which doctors say it is only 50% curable.. My father never smoke and never drink and yet he have nose cancer.

Jesus had bought my family members and my dearest husband and his family members to him and make us hunger for more.. Jesus die for our sins on the cross and we should be appreciate what he had teach, say and done..”
